Andre Villas-Boas gets a helping hand from Danielle CPFC Foundation’s lead in Bromley

Danielle Towner, CPFC foundation’s lead in Bromley, dropped by to help out Spurs boss, AVB, at a coaching session with young people in Walworth last week.

The session coincided with the launch of a groundbreaking new report by the Laureus Sport for Good foundation on the power of sport to tackle youth crime, gang culture and anti-social behaviour.

Commissioned by the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, the research focuses on the success of the Urban Stars project which takes place in Croydon, Southwark and Lambeth and shows that 80% of youngsters who take part in such programmes said that they were more likely to stay away from gangs and were more optimistic about their future.

Among the other findings from the research are:

  • 69% of the youngsters had improved confidence about their future
  • 65% said they had improved social skills as a result of attending the projects
  • 76% said they were more likely to help other people in their daily life

Gary Stannett, Chief Executive Officer of Active Communities Network, the organisation which runs the Urban Stars project and who also happens to be a Trustee for CPFC Foundation, said: “This research evidences our belief that sport can act as a catalyst for both personal and community enhancement when delivered by quality staff in local neighbourhoods”

National parenting organisation joins the CPFC Foundation Family

Crystal Palace FC prides itself on being a family club and we want to do as much as we can to support families of all shapes and sizes, many of which are facing really tough time at the moment. We’ve been doing this in a number of ways through our community programmes, including our new ‘men behaving dadly’ project. We are therefore delighted to announce a new partnership with Family Lives, the leading parenting and family charity to help support families inside and outside the stadium. Our partnership will enable us to fundraise together around new and innovative projects that can make a difference on the ground.

Sandra Hillier, Regional Manager says, “Family Lives are thrilled to have the support of Crystal Palace Foundation. Parents’ play the key role in their children’s lives from the moment they are born, and our partnership is about utilising the reputation of the foundation to develop positive relationships and experiences in order to flourish –whilst enjoying time together as a family.”

Congratulations Sean Stevenson

I entered the competition to win a signed shirt by following @CPFC_Foundation on twitter and I was thrilled when my name was pulled out the hat by Palace Crystal Girl Kimberley Fletcher. In my 30 years as an avid Palace supporter I had never won anything Palace related before! And just to add to my surprise when I collected my signed shirt I had my photo taken in the dug out and on the hallowed turf at Selhurst – a fantastic early Christmas present! Many Thanks to Colin Morris & Nicky Johns at the Crystal Palace FC Foundation for the warm welcome I received, photos and, most importantly, my signed shirt.
