A group of young Affinity sutton residents on the programme who were identified as positive role models and young leaders within their community were given the opportunity to study the youth work level 2 qualification. The highlight of the programme residential in the Lake district.
Ryan Bish, Breaking Barriers Project Manager. ‘It was great to work in partnership with Brathay and Affinity Sutton to deliver such an inspiring programme we have now seen members of this group take a more active role in making a positive contribution to their community.
Davontae Dean a young leader on the programme said ‘I was really inspired by the whole project as I got to learn about youth work, plan and deliver community events and go on a 4 day residential trip where I got to do exciting fun and team building activities. I was a confident person before but this experience has made me become more confident in my ability and taking on challenges. I have also recognised I am a role model and want to use this to make a positive contribution within my community.’
