Monks Hill Sports Centre, South Croydon, played host to the two teams, with the DS Eagles beaming with the chance to wear the iconic red and blue Palace strip.

The venue was full of parents, families and friends who added to the atmosphere in what was a historic day in the development of the Crystal Palace FC Foundation disability scheme.

Michael Harrington, Disability lead, was full of compliments as the participants enjoyed their first taste of a friendly match situation. Michael commented that the most rewarding aspect was to see the room full of smiles and glowing faces.

He added: “What a great night! We at the Foundation pride ourselves on offering all areas of our Community the opportunity to participate in, and receive the undoubted benefits of, sport. To see a group of people come together so quickly and represent CPFC in such a fantastic way is incredible.”

James Medder, Down’s Syndrome Association Sports Officer, said: “Great evening on Wednesday, both teams seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves”

Ashley Gumbrell, Fulham FC Foundation Disability Sports officer, said: “Huge thanks once again for last night. It was a great experience for us as staff and for the players who absolutely loved it.”
