Adult Mental Health Football Coaching

The ABLE2 funded football-coaching sessions for 16 year olds and over with mental health or learning difficulties in Sutton has come to a close for the summer. These great sessions were a real highlight for both the players and the coaching staff.

Foundation Football Development Officer Michael Harrington:
“We delivered these weekly sessions in venues across the Borough of Sutton with the support of our Partners at the goals Soccer Centre in North Cheam and the local sports centres run by Everyone Active. We engaged with a wide cross section of of the local population and I feel we really offered this marginalised section of our society the opportunity to do what we all take for granted – play Football!!”

There are plans to commence a new weekly coaching session from September 2014, in Partnership with Avenues, that will continue to provide an opportunity for anyone living in the Sutton Borough with mental health or learning difficulties the chance to play football with like minded players in a safe and fun environment.
