JOEL WARD

Since arriving at Selhurst Park in 2012, Joel Ward has established himself as one of the most consistent performers in the Crystal Palace FC squad, having been involved in the promotion season of 2012/13 and has been first choice right-back in each of the three succeeding Premier League campaigns.

After being snapped up by the Eagles from Portsmouth in the summer of 2012, the right-back played 30 times for Palace during a successful debut season, and missed only four games the following campaign as he showed his versatility by playing at left-back and central midfield upon request. His form in a variety of positions also saw him scoop the club’s Young Player of the Year award in 2014.

Ward has scored three times in the current 2015/16 season, with two Premier League goals coming against rival London teams. Ward netted his first with a 20 yard belter against Arsenal in the first home fixture of the season and consequently nicked the winner away to Chelsea in a blockbuster win at Stamford Bridge. He also opened the scoring away to Southampton in January’s FA Cup third round tie, where Zaha scored the winner to send the Eagles in to the hat for the fourth round draw.

JULIAN SPERONI

Argentine shot stopper Julian Speroni is a legend at Selhurst Park, winning a record four Player of the Year awards and celebrated a decade at the club with a testimonial against former club Dundee in May 2015. A week later he signed a one-year contract extension with Palace whom he has made a record amount of league appearances as a goalkeeper.

Speroni has cemented himself as a fan favourite and a local hero among our surrounding communities and felt it was his duty to give something back to the supporters that have followed his career throughout his 10-year tenure. Speroni conducted a number of goalkeeping clinics in the summer of 2015, designed for young keepers in the making, and offered hints and tips on how to make it as a professional. Over 100 youngsters benefited from the advice and experience of the Palace number 1 and is something the Foundation hope to repeat in 2016.
